Good news to start with, Jim Carrey isn't having a nervous breakdown! May be the best news I've heard all day (after the lovely heads up about plots to blow up the subway - I'll take what I can get...). Thanks CNN for the heads up - don't ever stop that breaking news - http://tinyurl.com/y7h2ouu "Acknowledging that "some folks out there are worried that I stay up too late," he insists, "This is no breakdown! It's a breakthrough! And if you'll just loosen these straps, I'll show you the difference!"" Glad to know and thanks for sharing.

Interesting article on Justice Stevens' environmental record and why the environmental movement is losing a strong ally on the Court... http://environment.change.org/blog/view/environmentalists_losing_key_supreme_court_ally

In other news of the day, Google announced that it's new 3g phone will be available soon for Verizon customers for only $1.8 billion. Thanks guys!

Speaking of billions (does anybody remember when a million seemed like a big number? billions? trillions? can we even comprehend what a trillion of something might be? a trillion pennies? a trillion m&ms?) Well, apparently the new Presidential bipartisan commission on US debt, aka the plan to no longer be completely owned by foreign investors, "goal is not to erase the deficit -- that would be far too difficult at this point. Rather, the commission will recommend policies that can slow the growth rate of debt to a "sustainable" level. http://tinyurl.com/y839ffs Well, that's a good tactic, I think I'll try it the next time Sallie Mae asks for a loan payment - "I'm sorry, that would be far too difficult at this point, but if I can slow the growth rate to a sustainable level, that'd be great guys. Wait, collections agency, what are you talking about!?!?" How is it that we operate as a country in a way that no individual could ever possibly operate in and hope not to have massive consequences???

I'm going to round out with good news, Alison Laichter, the director of the Jewish Meditation Center of Brooklyn, and a lot of other exciting young Jews, were just awarded the Joshua Venture Group Fellowship http://joshuaventuregroup.org/fellows Take a look at what some of these folks are up to - it's really amazing!
